Ben Gower / Ben Breen & Glencoaghan Valley

'These prints are the result of experimenting with a relatively new medium for me. They are based on visual information I collected  during my explorations while walking in the Twelve Bens, Connemara last year. They are an extension of work done for the book, "Into the Mountains" published in 2014 by Occasional Press, in collaboration with Ballynahinch Castle. I hope that these prints communicate a sense of my enjoyment of being in the mountains.' - Joe Wilson

GIDDY-GADDY & WINGWONG

Peter Monaghan

GIDDY-GADDY & WINGWONG

Peter Monaghan's work is the product of an intensely disciplined research into the experience of looking. However, it is not just optical stimulus for its own sake. While a passive viewer will experience aesthetic pleasure and pure visual sensation, his work also demands that you be an active viewer who is forced to respond to this stimulation.

Field Prints

Field Prints

"When I am not close to this land I imagine it. I imagine its vistas, its shapes and the hue of its day. I imagine the lines where roads, horizon and boundaries, meet, merge and fall away. In my mind’s eye I see the land in vivid colours, colours that follow me back and forth between the valley and New York. These Vistas washed by the yellowing sun and reflected in pinky blue skies are the fields inside my head…"
