“tear I” By Dorothy Cross At The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition
Dorothy Cross’ “Tear i” will be on view at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition from 8th June to 16th August 2015.
Published by Stoney Road Press in 2009, “Tear i” is from a series of five intaglio prints, in which sections of an engraving Cross found in an old family bible are enlarged and overlaid with photographs of crashing waves.
As Cross writes, “In this set of prints, photography meets engraving and ocean meets sections of the body. Narrative and nature are momentarily stilled.”
